    Artificial Intelligence assisted echocardiography to facilitate optimal image extraction for congenital heart defects diagnosis in Sub-Saharan Africa (Research software engineer volunteer)

    Frunwi Mugri N. is a health technology innovator and software engineer at the Digital Innovation Hub of the Health Research Foundation in Cameroon. With a strong foundation in AI and mobile health (mHealth) development, he leads projects that apply data science to improve maternal and child health outcomes in under-resourced settings. Mugri played a central role in the development of the StarMum App, a digital maternal health platform supporting pregnant women across Cameroon. He has also contributed to the DSI-Africa CHD-AI project, focusing on bias-aware diagnostic tools. His current work involves developing a melanin-aware AI model to correct racial bias in pulse oximeters, enhancing the accuracy of oxygen level measurements for individuals with darker skin tones. A passionate advocate for health equity and ethical AI, Mugri actively engages with the DSI-Africa community, including the Data Governance Working Group. His interests lie at the intersection of computer vision, public health, and responsible innovation in Africa.
