DS-CHANGE: Data Science for Child Health Now in Ghana (Masters Student)
Abraham Adusei is a DS-CHANGE Scholar and master's student in Biomedical Data Science at the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences, KNUST. With a background in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing, he is passionate about applying quantitative and computational techniques to solve real-world health challenges in Africa. During his undergraduate studies, Abraham explored Topological Data Analysis (TDA) in classifying the Wisconsin Diagnostic Breast Cancer dataset, sparking his interest in using advanced data science tools for biomedical applications. He later served as a teaching and research assistant at KNUST, where he supported instruction, guided tutorials, and contributed to academic research. Currently exploring diverse topics within biomedical data science, Abraham is particularly drawn to problems at the intersection of healthcare, machine learning, and mathematical modeling. He is committed to using data to inform decisions and improve health outcomes, especially in resource-limited settings. Beyond the classroom, Abraham mentors students in academics, leadership, research, and public speaking, reflecting his dedication to capacity building and community development. He looks forward to engaging with fellow scholars and researchers at the DS-I Africa Conference, learning from ongoing work across the continent, and discovering collaborative opportunities that can shape the future of data science and health innovation in Africa.
