Université de Sherbrooke (Canada Research Chair)
Prof. Aïda Ouangraoua is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Université de Sherbrooke, where she holds the Canada Research Chair in Computational and Biological Complexity. She earned a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from ENSEIRB-MATMECA in 2004, followed by a PhD in Computer Science from the Université de Bordeaux in 2007. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Simon Fraser University and the Université du Québec à Montréal (2008–2009). From 2009 to 2014, she served as a Research Scientist at the French Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA) before joining the Université de Sherbrooke. Prof. Ouangraoua’s research focuses on computational and machine learning models and algorithms for comparative genomics, with particular emphasis on RNA and structure-based bioinformatics, as well as the evolution of transcriptomes and genomes. She is a regular member of the Organizing and Program Committees of leading bioinformatics conferences, including ISMB, RECOMB-CG, and WABI. She also serves as Senior Editor for Bioinformatics Advances, Molecular Biology and Evolution, and as Associate Editor for the Journal of Computational Biology.
