Dr. Elvis Twumasi Aboagye, is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Division of Human Genetics, Department of Pathology, University of Cape Town, South Africa, with reserach focus on genomics of deafness in African populations, and a DSI-Fellow on the project "Public Understanding of Big Data in Genomics Medicine (PUBGEM) in Africa". As a scientific fellow in the Genetic Medicine of African Populations (GeneMAP) group, Elvis also coordinate a multi-country functional characterization studies in hearing-impaired cohorts in Cameroon, South Africa, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, and Rwanda. Future research interest includes harnessing three-dimensional organoid models to investigate the role of heritable and epigenomic profile in auditory system disorder development, therapeutic targets, to advance patients care.
