Jackie Kleynhans is an infectious disease epidemiologist with over eight years of post-qualification experience in public health research, driven by a commitment to strengthening disease surveillance and generating evidence to inform policy and practice. Her research has primarily focused on the epidemiology of respiratory pathogens, including influenza, RSV, SARS-CoV-2, and Streptococcus pneumoniae, with a growing emphasis on understanding immune correlates of protection and transmission dynamics in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings. In her current role at the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) in South Africa, she leads the design, implementation, and analysis of epidemiological studies, spanning protocol development, data management, statistical analysis, and dissemination.
