    Ethiopian Public Health Institute (Epidemiological Modeller and Data Scientist)

    Mulugeta currently leads the Data Analytics, Modeling, and Visualization Division at the National Data Management and Analytic Centre for Health within the Ethiopian Public Health Institute. He holds a position as an Epidemiological Modeler where he leverages advanced quantitative methods to support evidence-based public health policies and strategies, with a particular focus on epidemic preparedness and response. Furthermore, He is a member of the Vaccine Impact Modelling Consortium at Imperial College London, where he contributes his expertise to advise on the consortium's overall strategic direction, make recommendations on the selection of new modelling groups and to identify, refine, and prioritize policy-relevant questions. Prior to joining EPHI, Mulugeta served an Assistant Professor and Lecturer at public universities in Ethiopia. He was a Fellow at the Center for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis at the University of Nairobi, where he conducted research on the epidemiological impact of implementing active case screening for Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (RR/MDR-TB) as a strategy for TB elimination. His research interests include infectious disease modelling, pandemic preparedness, small area estimation. He holds a BSc in Statistics from Dilla University, an MSc in Mathematical and Statistical Modelling from Hawassa University. He leads national modelling investments from Gates-Foundation and other donors.
