Addis Ababa University (Assistant professor of Clinical Pharmacy)
I am an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at Addis Ababa University, leading the BMGF funded WISE Ethiopia project in Ethiopia to optimize the primary healthcare supply chains, workforce, and information systems through modeling as a co-PI. My research focuses on health outcomes and health economics, particularly in oncology/hematology and infectious diseases. I actively collaborate with the Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority, and the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association through various national working groups. These include efforts in forecasting and quantifying national anticancer and supportive medications, developing a national pediatric cancer registry, and improving pharmacy services. I also contribute to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) prevention and containment strategies. Internationally, I am engaged in the NIH funded ChemoPAD project, addressing anticancer drug quality in sub-Saharan Africa in collaboration with the University of Notre Dame and the University of North Carolina. So far, I published over 45 peer-reviewed publications as a PI and Co-PI, mainly focused on cancer and infectious disease outcomes.
