DS-CHANGE: Data Science for Child Health Now in Ghana (Masters Student)
I am a master's student in Biomedical Data Science, on the DS-CHANGE project in Ghana, with a strong interest in leveraging data-driven approaches to address health challenges in Africa. With an undergraduate degree in mathematics, I possess strong analytical and quantitative skills that I am learning to apply to biomedical and public health problems through machine learning, statistical modelling, and data visualisation. My undergraduate project focused on utilising machine learning algorithms to improve the estimation of parameter values in epidemiology models. I am particularly interested in how mathematical modelling and biomedical data can be integrated to inform public health strategies and personalised medicine initiatives. I believe that data science holds transformative potential for public health in Africa, from tackling infectious disease outbreaks to advancing precision medicine. I am excited about the opportunity to connect with fellow researchers, practitioners, and innovators at the DS-I Africa Consortium Meeting. I look forward to sharing my work, learning from others, and contributing to the growing data science community, which is committed to solving pressing health and development issues on the continent.
