DS-CHANGE: Data Science for Child Health Now in Ghana (Student/Collaborator)

I am a passionate paediatrician and child advocate committed to improving the lives of children, especially in underserved communities. My clinical work at the Asamang SDA Hospital is grounded in the belief that every child deserves to survive and thrive, regardless of where and when they are born. As Vice President of the Paediatric Society of Ghana, I lead national conversations and collaborative efforts to strengthen paediatric care, with a focus on quality improvement and harnessing the strength in partnerships. My growing interest in data science is fueling research and quality improvement initiatives that leverage electronic health records to identify predictors of neonatal and child outcomes. I am honing skills in data curation and analysis to support evidence-based decision-making in child health, alongside pursuing a fellowship program in neonatal medicine. I have worked with many teams on key national projects, including the development of relevant paediatric clinical guidelines and the adaptation of WHO quality standards for children in Ghana. My work with the World Health Organisation on emergency response during the COVID-19 pandemic in parts of Africa deepened my interest in international collaborations to advance healthcare. I am committed to building sustainable and equitable health systems for children.
