Dr Newton Matandirotya is a holder of a PhD in Geography and Environmental Management from North-West University, South Africa. His PhD explored the indoor exposure to extreme temperatures for residents in 3300 low-income residential dwellings of KwaDela, KwaZamokuhle and Jouberton in South Africa. The study also investigated how the quality of housing intersected with extreme temperature exposure for occupants. He has been a Research Fellow at the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and North West University, Potchefstroom South Africa. Additionally, he is the Director of Kgotso Development Trust as well as the Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Centre in Zimbabwe. His research interests are in climate change adaptation, indoor and outdoor thermal comfort, climate change mitigation, air quality monitoring and management, disaster management, food security as well as health and nutrition.
