DICE: Leveraging Data Science Applications to Improve Children's Environmental Health in Sub-Saharan Africa (Consultant)
An environmental health scientist with years of experience conducting environmental epidemiology and exposure science research. Much of my current work consists of investigations into the determinants of air pollution exposure and maternal and child health effects from environmental pollution exposures, with particular expertise in environmental chemical mixtures and vulnerable populations. I am currently investigating the health impacts of climate change, including wildfire smoke and extreme heat exposure. I collaborate internationally in East Africa on efforts to foster air quality monitoring using new technologies and data science tools and to promote awareness of air pollution sources and mitigation for the African context. Some of my most valuable skills and experience are in the areas of environmental epidemiology and statistical modeling, literature reviews, environmental justice and community engagement, leading projects that address complex and cross-cutting issues, cross-cultural competence, and working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
