DS-CHANGE: Data Science for Child Health Now in Ghana (Dschange Trainee)
I am a biostatistician and health data specialist from Offinso in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, passionate about leveraging data science to drive health innovation and discovery. I hold a BSc in Statistics from the University of Cape Coast and am currently pursuing an MSc in Health Informatics at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Since March 2025, I have participated in the Electronic Health Records Data Curation Training under the DSCHANGE program, which focuses on data science for child health in Ghana. This experience has strengthened my skills in managing and curating complex health data, laying a foundation to join DS-I Africa. With over a decade of experience in health data analysis and management, I serve as a Biostatistics Officer at St. Patrick's Hospital, where I oversee health records and lead data-driven quality improvement projects. I also contribute to research with the THRIVE Lab at UB, focusing on HIV prevention and stigma reduction, and have abstracts presented at USCHA and APHA in 2024. I am proficient in SPSS, R, and Python, and committed to using data science to advance equitable healthcare. Beyond data, I advocate for inclusive health through volunteer work in dyslexia awareness and deaf community empowerment.
