  • Mr Julius Tumusiime - Participant

MUDSReH: MUST Data Science Research Hub (Research Assistant)

Tumusiime Julius is a 25-year-old biomedical engineering graduate from Uganda, affiliated with mbarara university of science and technology. He has a strong interest in advancing healthcare through technology. He is currently working with the Mbarara University Data Science Research Hub (MUDSReH) on a pilot project that uses chest X-ray images to train an artificial intelligence (AI) model aimed at supporting clinical care for patients with pulmonary complications. This initiative seeks to enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve decision-making in low-resource healthcare settings. In parallel, Julius is leading efforts to integrate 3D modeling and printing into rehabilitation medicine, focusing on the design and local production of patient-specific assistive devices such as prosthetics and orthotics. His work combines engineering innovation with practical clinical applications to address gaps in care delivery. Passionate about empowering African health systems through locally driven solutions, Julius continues to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations that promote sustainable, accessible, and technology-enabled healthcare for underserved communities.
