    Dr. Tusingwire Pliers Denis is a faculty member and ophthalmologist at Mbarara University of science and Technology Ophthalmology department with a strong interest in data-driven solutions to healthcare challenges. He is currently involved in a PhD project focusing on the use of artificial intelligence to analyze retinal images in patients with diabetic retinopathy. His research interests include health systems strengthening, digital health, and improving access to ophthalmic care in Uganda. Dr. Tusingwire earned his medical degree from Gulu University and completed specialist training in ophthalmology at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He is committed to advancing eye health through innovation, collaborative research, and the integration of digital technologies aimed at addressing preventable blindness and improving health outcomes.
