Ssemitego James is a seasoned Computer Engineer with over 8 years of experience developing innovative software solutions that enhance research and healthcare delivery. Currently working as a Data Engineer at MUDsReH, James leads the design and implementation of digital tools that improve access to care and streamline data collection. He has developed a Cervical Cancer Screening Tool, including both a mobile app and management dashboards, as well as the Multimodal Database of Retinal Images (Modria)-a core imaging research tool. He has also contributed to four additional AI-focused platforms: the Breast Pathology Data Collection and Labelling Tool, Chest X-Ray Data Collection and Labelling Tool, DCPA Labelling Tool, and Sono AI Data Collection and Labelling Tool. Notable projects include the Extend Study Project, which uses JSP and Africa's Talking API to help HIV patients reduce alcohol use through IVR calls and SMS reminders; Support-Moms, a mobile health initiative delivering pregnancy and maternal care awareness through scheduled SMS and IVR; MobiCare, an app enabling patients to book doctor appointments; PedCan App, focused on early childhood cancer detection; and the DSA App, designed to discreetly support deaf patients accessing healthcare. James is passionate about leveraging technology to drive health equity, improve patient outcomes, and support underserved communities.
