    Derrick Bary Abila is a final-year medical student with an interest in the prevention and control of cancer in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). He has been engaged in studies aimed at understanding the socio-economic disparities in the screening for cervical, breast, and prostate cancer in LMICs. This has been through the open-access datasets of the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS). He has studied the risk factors of developing breast and cervical cancer, self-perceived risk, and engagement in cancer risk reduction strategies. He also contributes to the Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI) led by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Data, Research, and Innovation Working Group (WG5).
