I am an academic librarian and have 2 Masters degrees (University of Cape Town): one in Librarianship (Knowledge Management) and one in Higher Education (Teaching and Learning). I have 21 years of experience as a research librarian. My main activities were developing guides for students in information competencies, creating campus-wide information literacy programmes, and delivering classroom instruction. I was also involved in book and journal selection, and have a fair knowledge of financial databases. My main objective is strengthening of information literacy skills, search strategies, managing, organising, evaluating, and disseminating information, and providing support to members of an academic community. This includes students, academics, researchers, and lecturing staff. My role centred around providing student groups with essential skills to access the information they need.
