I hold a Doctorate in Biotechnology from the University of the Western Cape, South Africa and a combined Master of Science Degree in Structural Biology from the Universities of Cape Town and the Western Cape. In the last 9 years, since joining the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN), I have been involved with the sequencing HIV from patients suspected to be failing on Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) to understand molecular basis for HIV drug resistance (HIVDR) and for sub-typing. In the last 18 months, I have supported the Government of Nigeria (GoN) in the expansion of SARS-CoV-2 genomic-based surveillance activities, serving as the project lead of the sub-genomic component of the SECURE NIGERIA grant, a CDC-based grant awarded to IHVN. I serve as the external quality control officer of the Institute of Human Virology H3Africa Biorepository (IHAB), providing molecular biology-based support in all areas of its operation and as the laboratory lead of the Clinical Trial Unit at the International Research Centre of Excellence (IRCE). I serve as a project associate on the INFORM Africa Project.
