    Research Interest: Health system, socio-cultural determinants of health and illness, community engagement, sexual and population health, qualitative methodology, urban health and bioethics. Background Information: Ayodele Jegede is a Professor and former Head of the Department of Sociology and Dean of Faculty of the Social Sciences, and currently the Director of Research Management Office at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He teaches medical Anthropology and Sociology, including Bioethics. He holds a BSc and M.Sc. degrees in anthropology and sociology, a PhD degree in medical sociology, and MHSc in Medical Science (Bioethics). Research Experiences: Principal Investigator, Co-Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on several internally and externally funded projects including but not limited to National Institute of Health (NIH)-funded grants, Department for International Development (DFID), Malaria Consortium, Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases(TDR), World Health Organisation (WHO), Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Programme for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), National Agency for Control of AIDS (NACA), World Bank (WB), University of Ibadan Senate Research Grant, Council for the Development of Social Research in Africa (CODESRIA, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). I have successfully administered grants (e.g. staffing, budget, and participant protection) resulting in over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles. Scholarships: British Council Chevening Leventis Scholarship to work his thesis for publication at the Centre for African Studies, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London in 1995
