    Dr. Blanco is an epidemiologist working at the Institute of Human Virology (IHV) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She has made great strides in the field of epidemiology, particularly in the areas of molecular epidemiology, and infectious disease epidemiology. Combining her background in clinical microbiology and my graduate education (MPH and PhD) in epidemiology, her research has been focused on worldwide important human infectious pathogens, including HIV, influenza, and multidrug-resistant microorganisms. In recent years, she have collaborated in the implementation, analysis, and dissemination of results of several HIV prevention, care and treatment programs across six African countries.
