CHaracterizing Effects of Air Quality In Maternal, Newborn and Child Health: The CHEAQI-MNCH Research Project
I am a Spatial Data Scientist and PhD candidate in Geomatics at the University of Cape Town, working under the CHEAQI-MNCH Project within the DS-I Africa Consortium. My research focuses on geospatial and health data science approaches to modelling environmental exposures, especially air pollution, using remote sensing, machine learning, and spatial analytics in Sub-Saharan Africa. I am involved in developing reproducible workflows, managing geospatial data systems, and integrating satellite, climate, and ground-based data to support maternal and child health research. My broader interests include FAIR data systems, open science, and the application of data science to generate evidence for policy and practice. Through this work, I aim to strengthen African research capacity and contribute practical, data-driven solutions for environmental health challenges across the region. I also have experience in GIS, database management, visualisation, and collaborative research, and I am committed to building scalable analytical tools that improve decision-making, knowledge sharing, and regional impact.
