Harnessing Data Science to Promote Equity in Injury and Surgery for Africa (DMAC Lead/Member)
Dr Abdel Jelil Njouendou is a Cameroonian biomedical scientist affiliated with the University of Buea, where he serves as a lecturer in the Faculty of Health Sciences and contributes to training the next generation of health professionals. He is actively involved in research on neglected tropical diseases, particularly in areas related to parasitic infections, vector biology, and disease control strategies. He collaborates with institutions such as the Parasites and Vector Biology Research Unit and the Research Foundation for Tropical Diseases and the Environment. In addition to his teaching and research roles, he has served as a project manager on international research initiatives, contributing to multidisciplinary efforts aimed at improving health outcomes in endemic regions. Further, he has strong expertise in data management and currently serves as a data manager for D-SINE Africa. In this capacity, he supports the design, organisation, and oversight of research data systems, ensuring data quality and facilitating evidence-based decision-making in health research projects. Through his multidisciplinary work spanning biomedical research, public health, and data systems, he continues to contribute to scientific advancement and the strengthening of health systems in Cameroon and across
