Dr Olusola Ogunsanya - Participant
Combatting AntiMicrobial Resistance in Africa Using Data Science (Training Manager / Coordinator)
Dr Olusola Akinola Ogunsanya is a Veterinary Pathologist with expertise in genomics and pathogen surveillance. He is currently the laboratory research coordinator at the Institute of Genomics and Global Health, Redeemer's University. His expertise cut across host-pathogen interaction, with demonstrable evidence of pathogen surveillance and evolutionary research in Africa. He has participated in diverse molecular projects focused on microbial surveillance and pathogen detection of Lassa fever virus, African swine fever virus, SARS-CoV-2, Marburg disease virus, Rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus and Mpox virus. He has also facilitated several genomics workshops aimed at training African scientists on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) in Nigeria, Rwanda, Seychelles and Liberia. His research interests focus on veterinary pathology, genomics, pathogen surveillance, antimicrobial resistance surveillance, bioinformatics, one health and zoonosis. Dr Ogunsanya aims to apply genomic tools to advance microbial detection and improve public health outcomes through a One-health approach.
