    Ddumba Gerald is a seasoned research assistant with over 4 years of experience working with Mbarara University Of science and Technology Data Science Research Hub (MUDSReH) under MoDRIA (Multimodal Database of Retinal Images for Africa) Project, where he has led a team of 10 fundus technicians in collecting data from 15,000 consented participants across multiple health facilities in Uganda and Kenya. Before this role, he worked as a Fundus Camera Technician with a diabetic retinopathy project in Western and Southern Uganda under the Lions Club International, successfully screening over 500 diabetic patients in regional referral hospitals and health centers in that region. Gerald holds a Bachelor's degree in Science and Education (Chemistry and Mathematics) from Mbarara University. Throughout his career as a research assistant, he has had the privilege of working under the guidance of highly esteemed ophthalmologist Dr. Simon Arunga. With a passion for improving eye health in Africa, Gerald continues to drive positive change in his field. Outside of work, he finds inspiration in gospel music and is dedicated to spreading the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
