Mr. Cheick Oumar Tangara is a distinguished Financial and Program Manager based in Mali, celebrated for his extensive experience and expertise in grant management, research funding, and strategic leadership. A graduate of Michigan State University, he earned a Master of Science in Strategic Management and Leadership, equipping him with the skills necessary to navigate complex organizational landscapes and implement effective management strategies. With over 15 years of professional experience, Cheick has successfully managed several grants from diverse funding sources, demonstrating his ability to cultivate relationships with stakeholders to secure vital resources for development projects. His work has not only bolstered local initiatives but has also contributed to broader research opportunities across the West African region, with his experience in understanding how to access and get resources from different funders such as the US National Institute of Health, DFG German, and the Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC) in London, WHO, Bill & Melinda Gate Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), World Health Organization WHO, Science for Africa Foundation (SFA) and Elrha-UK. Through his work, Cheick has become a respected member of the research funding community in Mali and the broader African region.
