    Tuberculosis in households with infectious cases in Kampala city: Harnessing health data science for new insights on TB transmission and treatment response (Co-PI)

    Dr. Andrew Katumba is a lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at Makerere University where he also serves as the Lead for the Marconi Research and Innovation Lab (Marconi Lab). He holds a Ph.D. in Photonics Engineering from Gent University, Belgium, and an MSc. Optics and Photonics for Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. His current research focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence to Healthcare and Medicine in low-resource settings. Andrew leads a number of ongoing projects focused on screening cancer (cervical, breast, and prostate) using various medical imaging modalities ranging from ultrasound, and mp-MRI to CT, in collaboration with the Uganda Cancer Institute and other clinical partners.
