Role of Data Streams In Informing Infection Dynamics in Africa (SCIENCE COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST)

MUSA AMINU is currently a PhD student at the Nelson Mandela University with a research focus on delineating the epigenetic correlates of cannabis use disorders comorbid with depression and anxiety. He is passionate about advancing scientific literacy, working with communities, and developing programs that address public health needs. For over a decade, he has actively volunteered and worked with multiple non-governmental organizations (NGOs) providing mental health services in Nigeria. He has also been involved in several impactful initiatives as an implementing partner of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). His contributions to these organizations include developing human-interest stories and other forms of communication materials, as well as designing community-based activities and advocacy campaign strategies. He has also been involved in the development and implementation of drug education and prevention modules for school children in Nigeria. He currently works with the International Research Centre of Excellence, under the institute of Human Virology Nigeria; where he is juxtaposed between two major projects, INFORM Africa (role of data streams in informing infection dynamics in Africa) and the HIV-VISTA project, associated with the DSI-Africa and BRILLIANT consortia, respectively.
