Paul Esselaar holds a BA, LLB, from Rhodes University and a LLM (electronic law) from the University of Cape Town. He is a regular lecturer at UCT, including on the Cybercrime Act and is an admitted attorney and notary, currently practicing at Esselaar Attorneys. With over 23 years of experience as a lawyer, including as a legal advisor to a software company, he is up to date on legislative developments in the ICT sector. He is an appeal adjudicator for the Wireless Application Services Providers Association (WASPA) and the Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA). He is the co-author of two books on the Protection of Personal Information Act.
