Prof Marion Adebiyi - Participant
DS-I Africa Coordinating Center (Trainer)
Marion Adebiyi has an extensive background in Computing and vast in Bioinformatics analysis of various high-throughput datasets. Her core areas of interest include organism's inter pathway analysis, protein structures and function predictions by homology modeling, deploying in-silico methods to discover new small molecules with therapeutic potentials, developing and implementing genetic research approaches and methods to associate specific genetic variations with diseases and traits, with special interest in Infectious diseases of African populations, pathogens, hosts and vectors. Lately, her research involved exploring innovative machine learning and AI methods to elucidate potential insecticidal targets, and resistance mechanisms deployed to insecticidal classes by the malaria vectors. She heads the H3Africa projects coordinating Division, and Entomology & Data Management Division of Covenant University Bioinformatics Research (CUBRe) group. She served as the West African President of the Regional Student Group, Student Council (WA-RSGSC) of the ASBCB from 2008-2013, and was the treasurer for the ASBCB from 2015 to 2017. She loves teaching and traveling, and highly dedicated to advancing new talent discovery and mentoring young scientists.
