    Shaun Aron is a bioinformatician and lecturer at the Sydney Brenner Institute for Molecular Bioscience (SBIMB) at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa. He has a background in human genetics and bioinformatics and is passionate about building bioinformatics capacity across Africa. He is currently Chair of the H3ABioNet Education and Training Work Package and PI of the Wits node of the eLwazi ODSP. His research interests include, exploring and understanding the genetic history of African populations and he is leading a project focused on the building and application of pangenome graphs in an African context.
