MUST Data Science Research Hub (Project Manager/Coordinator)

Balitema Vicent is an Information technology Degree holder currently working as a project coordinator under the Data Science Initiative (DS-1) Africa Research Hub (MUDSReH) at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Mr. Balitema provides administrative and budgetary support to DMAC, MoDRIA, and AVE-Map by preparing projections, raising requisitions, and tracking work plans to ensure milestones are achieved. Supports MoDRIA and AVE-Map research project activities at MUST including coordinating with the respective project research assistants and Lead Investigators for progress performance and ensuring that projects have access to the data repository, the necessary Artificial Intelligence, and Management Leading support from DMAC. He also coordinates research projects to ensure that they provide DMAC with all the required data sets. He prepares and submits monthly activity reports for DMAC, MoDRIA, and AVE-Map to the Hub Administrator through the respective lead investigators. He attends monthly Program Implementation Committee meetings (MUST, COECSA, KNUST MIT, MGH) with the Hub Director, and Hub Deputy Director, and Lead investigators for overall cohesion in the MUDSReH. He has received training in responsible conduct of research, drafting grant proposals, grant management, and professional report writing, all of which have an impact on how successfully he completes activities related to research.
