    Medical Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MAI Lab) (Project Manager/Coordinator)

    Maruf Adewole is a pioneering Medical Physicist and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Researcher who manages the Medical Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MAI Lab) in Lagos, Nigeria. This innovative laboratory focuses on developing homegrown solutions for healthcare challenges in resource-constrained environments like Sub-Saharan Africa. Maruf led the creation of the African Brain Tumour Segmentation dataset and co-organized the inaugural BraTS-Africa challenge. He is also co-organizing the Sprint AI Training for African Medical Imaging Knowledge Translation (SPARK) academy. Maruf has authored numerous journals in AI, Medical Physics, Radiotherapy, and Radio-diagnosis, and serves on the Editorial Board of Radiology: Artificial Intelligence, Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). He has received several awards, including the prestigious International Prize of Tannenbaum Open Science Institute, McGill University, Quebec, Canada (2023), and the National Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme (NAIRS) award from the Federal Government of Nigeria. Maruf is a member of several professional organizations, including the Nigerian Association of Medical Physicists (NAMP), International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), and is a licensed Radiation Safety Consultant by the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA).
