    Research Training on Harnessing Data Science for Global Health Priorities in Africa (Post Doctoral fellow)

    Dr. Mohanad Mohammed completed his PhD in Statistics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2022. Throughout his MSc and PhD studies, he served as a tutor and Adhoc lecturer at the university from 2019 to 2022. Presently, he holds a post-doctoral fellowship at UKZN, collaborating with Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health, USA, and Heidelberg University, Germany, on a health data science project. His research spans statistical methods in genomics, genetics, public health, and the environment, supported by grants from institutions like NIH, Deltas Africa initiative, and GSK. Currently, he focuses on developing statistical models for integrating DNA microarray and RNASeq data in cancer studies. Dr. Mohammed is particularly interested in advancing cancer disease modeling using gene expression data to improve decision-making in diagnosis, treatment, and care. He has contributed to numerous articles, with more than ten published in respected journals and conferences. Additionally, he actively participates in international and local workshops and conferences and is a valued member of the biostatistics team within the MASAMU program.
