    Growing Data-science Research in Africa to Stimulate Progress (Contact-PI)

    Mayowa Ojo OWOLABI MBBS, MSc, DrM, MD, DSc, FMCP, FWACP, FRCP, FANA, FAHA, FAAN, FAAS, FAS, FAMedS, is a Professor of Neurology, and Director, Center for Genomic and Precision Medicine, University of Ibadan. He was Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, 2018 to 2022. He is an expert in implementation science and translational genomic epidemiology of hypertension, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases. Currently, he is the Principal Investigator or MPI of numerous internationally funded grants including the GRASP (Growing Data-science Research in Africa to Stimulate Progress) program. He is an outstanding scientist with several inventions and innovations. He is among the global top 2% scientists (2023) and the winner of the 2021 World Stroke Organization Global Award for Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Stroke Research. A leader par excellence recognized locally and globally with >400 publications in peer-reviewed journals with h-index of 84 and >121,000 citations, he is the pioneer Regional Vice-President, World Federation of Neurorehabilitation (Africa); member Board of Directors, World Stroke Organization; African Regional Director, World Hypertension League; Lead Co-Chair, WSO- Lancet Commission on stroke; foundation co-chair of the steering committee of African Stroke Organization; and Member/Rapporteur of the WHO Technical Action Group on NCD (R&D) among others.
