    Harnessing Data Science to Promote Equity in Injury and Surgery for Africa (D-SINE) (Post Doc)

    Mark Yost, MD is a general surgery resident physician at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). After obtaining his undergraduate degree at UCLA and graduating from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Yost began residency at UCLA to work with Dr. Catherine Juillard at the UCLA Program for the Advancement of Surgical Equity (PASE). UCLA PASE has a research collaboration with the University of Buea in Cameroon to improve surgical access and reduce the burden of surgical disease in sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Yost currently works with Cameroonian D-SINE fellows regarding injury prevention. Other research projects in Cameroon include mobile phone-based (mHealth) follow-up with trauma patients after discharge and assessment of surgeon technological capacities for future telehealth interventions. After residency, Dr. Yost plans to complete a fellowship in trauma surgery and surgical critical care.
