Dr Elvis Asangbeng Tanue - Speaker

Harnessing Data Science to Promote Equity in Injury and Surgery for Africa (D-SINE) (Post Doctoral fellow)

Dr. Tanue is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Public Health and Hygiene at the Faculty of Health Sciences in the University of Buea. He possesses over ten years of research experience in the fields of public health, data analysis, and implementation science. He has successfully managed several research projects for a wide range of agencies and has held research and statistical consultancy positions for international NGOs. Dr. Tanue has successfully supervised 12 Masters students through their research projects. He has co-authored a book chapter and published over 20 research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Tanue has mentored 4 early career researchers to write and win research grants and served as their direct supervisor in the implementation of the projects. He is currently serving as a reviewer for several journals and an editorial board member for Austin Public Health. Dr. Tanue is a post-doctoral fellow at STREaM Cameroon and collaborating with the D-SINE project to explore the data captured from the Cameroon Trauma Registry to inform policy and best practices in reducing the injury burden in Cameroon and Africa. In 2022, Dr. Tanue served as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley where he is took courses in Data Sciences and immersed himself in the rich and diverse research conducted by the professors in the School of Public Health. Dr. Tanue is working on injury prevention and trauma care and has a special interest on the pre-hospital care that can be offered to victims of injuries by community members with little or no medical training.
