    Developing data science solutions to mitigate the health impacts of climate change in Africa: the HE2AT Center (HEAT) (Academic and Researcher)

    Ademola Akinbobola is a lecturer at the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science, The Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. He had his PhD in Meteorology with specialization in Human Biometeorology. His research focus is on the effects of climate on some common human diseases. He has attended conferences nationally and internationally. He attended the 2023 Congress of Biometeorology held at Arizona State University, Tempe, USA May 14-17, 2023. He attended the International Conference of Urban Climate (ICUC9) in Toulouse, France (2015). He also attended the Summer School on Modeling Tools and Capacity Building in Climate and Public Health 15th April- 29th April, 2013 and Summer School on Climate Impact Modeling for Developing Countries, Water, Agriculture and Health organized by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics,(ICTP) Trieste, Italy 4th September - 16th September, 2011. Dr Akinbobola attended Implementation Research Training for Young Investigators in Health-related Disciplines in Federal Universities in Southwest Nigeria held at College of Medicine, University of Ibadan 02-06 May, 2016
    He was one of the scientist that was involved in the GCRF African SWIFT launched in 2017 as a £9 million Programme led by the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS), and was funded by the Global Challenges Fund. It included partners from universities and national meteorological services in Ghana, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal and the UK.
    He is currently a co-investigator on the project Assessing intra-urban heat-health vulnerabilities using geospatial data: between formal and informal neighborhoods in Lagos, Nigeria.
