Makerere University Data Science Research Training to Strengthen Evidence-Based Health Innovation, Intervention and Policy (MakDARTA) (MSc trainee)

am a passionate bioinformatics researcher currently pursuing a Master's degree at Makerere University with a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology. Currently I work under the Department of Immunology and Molecular Biology, College of Health Sciences, Makerere University in the Genomics and Molecular Biology Laboratory where we handle research on health burdens like HIV, TB, Malaria.
My research journey is centered around the fascinating world of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with a keen focus on understanding genomic variations in toxin-antitoxin systems and their role in drug resistance. My research project, "Genomic Variations in Toxin-Antitoxin Systems of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Their Association with Drug Resistance," is not only a bioinformatics endeavor but also integrates data science methodologies. Utilizing cutting-edge data science and machine learning techniques. This multidisciplinary approach holds great potential to enhance our understanding and predictive capabilities in combatting tuberculosis.
Beyond research, I am committed to advocating for bioinformatics and data science as potent tools to address global health challenges.
