I am a Professor of Computer Science (Bioinformatics) in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. I am a leader of the Covenant University Bioinformatics Research Cluster(CUBRe) and Academic Program Coordinator under Covenant Applied Informatics and Communication Africa Centre of Excellence (CApIC-ACE)(https://ace.covenantuniversity.edu.ng/) funded by the World Bank, Covenant University. I was a resource person for H3Abionet, Bioinformatics Training workshop, Covenant University, Nigeria, April 26 - May 21, 2014.; and 1st WASLITBRe Postgraduate Bioinformatics Workshop, Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria, May 8 - June 20, 2018. I am a PI in Covenant University funded research and a co-PI in the World Bank funded Covenant Applied Informatics and Communication African Center of Excellence (CApIC-ACE) I have the expertise, leadership, training, and motivation necessary to successfully carry out the proposed research project. I have a broad background in Bioinformatics and Computational biology, with specific training and expertise in the Bioinformatics research field. As a leader of Covenant University Bioinformatics Research Cluster(CUBRe) in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, my research focuses on computational identification of signaling and metabolic pathways in Plasmodium falciparum, Analysis of Gene/Protein-Protein Interaction Networks, Host-pathogen protein-protein interaction (HPPPI), Machine Learning and its application to biological data. Mathematical Epidemiological modelling, etc.. I have done some great projects especially in bioinformatics research to address some of the biological problems in collaboration with our biological partners both at local (in Covenant University in particular) and International Universities. My thesis research work has produced both PhDs and masters with research opportunities from their theses and dissertations in Covenant University Bioinformatics Research Group at Covenant University. I have successfully trained and produced 3 Ph.Ds (Dr. Soyemi and Dr. Aromolaran, and Dr. Adegbite) and 17 MSc students . I had my post-doctoral experience at Jena State University Hospital, Jena, Germany (2019-2020). Five Ph.D. students under WASLITBRe and Covenant Applied Informatics and Communication Africa Centre of Excellence (CApIC-ACE) grants are under my supervision presently.
