Combatting AntiMicrobial Resistance in Africa Using Data Science (CAMRA) (Laboratory Manager)

Grace Olanipekun is seasoned Laboratory Manager with IFAIN, with extensive experience in developing, coordinating, and implementing laboratory protocols and processes in infectious disease research among both pediatric and adult populations. With a first degree in Medical Laboratory Science and postgraduate training in Public Health, She has been involved setting up laboratories by working with architects and engineers to redesign available spaces to well-designed biosafety level two(2) laboratories, installing and maintaining standard equipment, and implementing protocols for their use, as well as for other non-automated laboratory processes. Additionally she has played a critical role in setting up a main laboratory in Abuja that runs both conventional microbiology tests and molecular techniques using real-time PCR machines. With over a decade of hands-on experience in laboratory management and research, as well as proficiency in mentoring and training laboratory professionals in infectious diseases research, she has made significant contributions to her field. As part of the CAMRA project, she plays a vital role in overseeing the implementation of protocols for all laboratory processes on sample processing, pathogen identification and antimicrobial resistance detection on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, she is responsible for monitoring key quality indicators for the laboratory processes and providing valuable feedback to the IFAIN project team regarding the progress of the project.
