    Combatting AntiMicrobial Resistance in Africa Using Data Science (CAMRA) (DMAC Lead/Member)

    Dr Bernard Ebruke currently serves as Country Director for Research at the International Foundation Against Infectious Disease in Nigeria (IFAIN), a partner organization in the CAMRA project team. Dr Ebruke had his basic training as a Paediatrician and subsequently trained as an Epidemiologist. In his current role, Dr Ebruke coordinates the set-up and implementation of surveillance programs in the conduct of IFAIN research studies in different parts of Nigeria. Some of these studies include setting up surveillance platforms to enable the effective isolation and molecular characterization of multi-drug resistant bacterial isolates identified from febrile children admitted to hospital. In addition to coordinating IFAIN research in Nigeria, Dr Ebruke also provides support for strengthening the country health systems, as it interfaces with IFAIN research. Dr Ebruke recently served as Human Health Technical lead on the Fleming Fund Country Grant to Nigeria, coordinating the support to establish and strengthen antimicrobial stewardship programmes across tertiary health facilities in Nigeria. Prior to his current role, Dr Ebruke served as Research Manager at the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) The Gambia Unit, coordinating several research studies including the Bill & Melinda Gates-funded multi-country, Pneumonia Etiology Research of Child Health (PERCH) study.
