    Dr. Gerendasy is the Chief of International Programs at the National Library of Medicine (NLM), where he is working on projects to increase the capacity to disseminate health information in Africa. He came to NLM from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Scientific Review. His responsibilities as a Scientific Review Officer included leading reviews of major international and global health research projects and training programs. Before joining NIH, he spent 12 years at the Scripps Research Institute starting as a postdoctoral fellow and leaving as Assistant Professor. His NIH-funded research program focused on molecular mechanisms of changes in synaptic function. Dr. Gerendasy received a B.A. in biology from Grinnell College, an M.S. in biochemistry from Northwestern University, and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Arizona.
