Combatting AntiMicrobial Resistance in Africa Using Data Science (CAMRA) (Administrator)
Dr. Noel Gahamanyi is the Director of the Microbiology Unit at the National Reference Laboratory, Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC), and Lecturer of Microbiology at the University of Rwanda. He is a Molecular Microbiologist with an interest in Bacterial pathogens, their drug resistance, and using natural products as alternative antimicrobials. Dr. Gahamanyi completed his Ph.D. at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania in 2021 where he worked on the Molecular Epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance profiles of Campylobacter using the One Health Approach. He holds an MSc in Microbiology from Jain University (India) and a BSc in Biotechnology from the former National University of Rwanda. Before embarking on the Ph.D. journey, Dr. Gahamanyi served as a Lecturer of Microbiology-related courses at the Catholic University of Rwanda where he also served as Head of the Biotechnology Department and then as the Vice-dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (2013-2018). In Research, Dr. Gahamanyi won two grants, published 13 papers related to Microbiology, and supervised over 20 undergraduate students.
