Rogers Kamulegeya is a biomedical scientist and lecturer at the Makerere University College of Health Sciences, specializing in infectious diseases, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. His research focuses on HIV and tuberculosis, particularly the immunological and molecular mechanisms underlying progression across the TB disease continuum. He integrates approaches such as T cell repertoire analysis, transcriptomics, and systems biology to investigate host-pathogen interactions. He leads the Integrated Biorepository of H3Africa Uganda, a major biobanking platform supporting genomic and translational research across Africa. Rogers is also a pioneer in bioinformatics training at Makerere University, where he mentors MSc and PhD students in computational biology and genomics. His work emphasizes data-driven approaches, including artificial intelligence, to improve disease prediction, diagnostics, and treatment outcomes in high-burden settings.
