DS-I Africa Ideathon

Dear DS-I Africa Community,

The DS-I Africa Coordinating Center is pleased to introduce the DS-I Africa Ideathon.

What is the DS-I Africa Ideathon?

The Ideathon is a brainstorming experience for participants to address some of the most pressing challenges of our time by leveraging their skills and interest.

Aim of the Ideathon?

With DS-I Africa  focusing on leveraging data science technologies to transform biomedical and behavioural research and develop solutions that would lead to improved health for individuals and populations, the aim of the Ideathon is to allow consortium members, especially trainees and early career researchers, who have innovative ideas to come together and develop their ideas by using design thinking and innovative learning practices to ideate and collaborate on possible solutions.

How will the Ideathon work?

The framework of the ideathon is shown in the figure below. Interested participants will sign up as either a team or an individual. Those that sign up us individuals will be grouped into teams of three by the Ideathon facilitators.

How should I prepare?

Successful teams will begin the ideathon by virtually presenting their ideas to a panel of judges. After the presentations, the judges will provide useful comments that can better shape the proposed ideas. Each team will be assigned a mentor. There will be a team of judges and mentors that will provide guidance to the successful teams that sign up for the Ideathon.

How to participate?

Sign up here as a participant, judge, or a mentor.
