Mark Herringer

Mark Herringer is a data steward and co-founder of the Global Healthsites Mapping Project. He works with OpenStreetMap and public-health data collaboratives to make health-facility information open, accessible and useful. Healthsites.io is recognised as a Digital Public Good. His experience includes health-data initiatives in Senegal and Sierra Leone and responses to COVID-19, Ebola and Zika. His work is grounded in human-centred design and open-data practice.


Steve Cygu

Steve Cygu

Steve Cygu is an Associate Research Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer with a background in mathematical, statistical and computational modelling. He has more than five years of research experience and contributes to open-source R tools and packages. He works at the African Population and Health Research Center and previously held roles at Dalberg Research, Infotrak Research and the South African Center for Mathematical Modelling.

He holds a PhD in Computational Science and Engineering from McMaster University, an MSc in Mathematical Sciences through Stellenbosch University and the University of Cape Town, and a BSc in Applied Statistics from Maasai Mara University.


Hannah Hussey

Hannah Hussey is a Public Health Medicine Specialist and director of C-SHARP, a health and demographic surveillance platform integrated with routine community services. Her work spans the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness and the University of Cape Town School of Public Health, with a focus on linking facility, community, patient and research information to strengthen health systems and public-health decision-making.
