DS-I Africa to Host Sessions at the Prestigious Science Summit at UNGA79 on Advancing Global Health and Climate Action

[South Africa, 3 September 2024] – DS-I Africa is excited to announce that its sessions have been accepted for presentation at the esteemed Science Summit during the UN General Assembly (UNGA79) event. Set for September 11th and 13th, 2024, these sessions will gather an array of experts from diverse sectors aiming to leverage data science and digital health to confront pressing global health challenges and the impacts of climate change.

Our sessions will feature prominent partners including the World Health Organization (WHO) AI and Ethics Expert Group, government and non-governmental representatives, distinguished funders, and leading researchers committed to advancing public health solutions in Africa, and globally, through building communities and partnerships toward a sustainable future.

The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion with key stakeholders spotlighting the role of ethical AI in reshaping healthcare pathways.

  3. Exploring Novel Solutions for Tracking and Adapting to the Health Impacts of Climate Change

    Discussions on novel solutions that address the health impacts of Climate Change, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Dynamic presentations and panel discussions will include experts from diverse backgrounds representing the World Health Organisation, Research Institutions (Wits University, CeSHHAR Zimbabwe, Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, Villanova University), the development sector (Clinton Health Access Initiative) and funding bodies (National Institutes of Health).
