FAIR Principles: How to make them work for you

FAIR principles are abstract in nature, and harbour contextual complexities such as country-specific data protection laws and highly technical but broad guidelines. As such, FAIR principles are useful for creating guidelines for data providers and managers, but do not provide guidance on how to improve the ‘level of FAIRness’ of a project.

We present an overview of the FAIR principles, different methods of assessing the FAIRness of a project, and the FAIRification Process: a template to improve the FAIRness of your data. Alongside these, we present several tools that will aid in those processes, the FAIR Wizard, FAIR Maturity Assessment, and FAIR Cookbook.
